Welcome

This is "my" mashed&smashed up personal blog where I try to post useful stuff for people that are into sports, people that want technology to for for them and not vice versa, people looking for solutions to mobile phone problems especially Nokia and Android related, people that are interested in SEO in making money online and more...

Action Sports Blog Resurection

That was a long long pause between my last post and this one. Lots of things have happened, like breaking up with my long time girlfriend and dealing with that shit. That was hard. It took my mind of internet things for quite a while. Then came the Google SERP and algorithm updates that kicked some of my sites into their shins and made me rethink things, made me lost my motivation and then get it back again. It's hard to go from alsom 100$ a day back to 20$. But on the other hand it's true a have been very passive and lazy in the last 1-2 years when it comes to my sites. Most of the time was spent checking earnings and stats. Which is fun but doesn't help build or rank sites.

Anyway... the recent changes are leading kind of away from sniper - one mini niche - one keyword sites. Fortunately I have expanded most of my sites to target many keywords. So even mini sites were not do or die dependent on one keyword.

For instance if you get 80% of your traffic from your main keyword and your site drops - you are screwed. If you get 30% from your main keyword and 70% from all other long tail versions of it and related keywords then a drop in the main keyword doesn't hit you that hard.

And what I have found out is that sites with lots of content, lots of different content have a better ratio between main keyword and all the other long tail keywords. More power to bigger number of keywords and less to the main one. This is good.

Also - I decided to return to sites that I enjoy making. And this are action sport sites or better that one surfing snowboarding and other alternative sports blog that was the first site that I ever put up. It has been 3 years since my last post on that blog and the traffic has been CONSTANT the whole time. During all the ups and downs and algo changes that site remained static. The CTR sucks, at least there are some affiliate sales...nothing to be really excited about but it's what a really enjoy to write about and I've been pumping out posts in the last few days. And I've moved this blog from Joomla to WP. Sorry Joomla but you suck. You are just too much of a pain in the ass to maintain. Otherwise a cool, simple and powerful CMS  but I don't want to take a vacation everytime a Joomla upgrade comes out, SEF URL's change and stuff like that.

So now I have only one Joomla site left. I'm really sorry that I didn't put all my sites on wordpress. Some ore running on other simpler scripts but at least they are light, simple and not updated. Unlike Joomla. Sound funny but this is a good thing :).

Anyway... blog has a semi new template that I like - Pagelines, and some new posts about mountainbiking and surfing. And about a stupid thing called wavejet and about Travis Rice new snowboard movie - The Art Of Flight. And I have included some links to in throughout this post so feel free to click them and check it out :).

Baking Potatoes

And I am back to food. Comfort food. I need it now more than ever. I like potatoes. They are easy to make...almost anything made out of potatoes is easy. Cook or bake the potatoes and you are half way there. The most popular potato recipe around here is for mashed potatoes so this was the first one I learned. Especially since my girlfriend likes them a lot. There are a few different ways how you can make them. Ok, then I usually made too much and there were leftovers. So I started to learn and try recipes for leftover mashed potatoes. Yeah...the link is full of them.

But now I also into baked potato recipes and recipes for potato bread. Baked potatoes were always my favorite dish. Just cut the potato in half and put it in the oven. When it's soft, baked and a little brown on the top take it out, put some salt on it and eat it with sour cream. Yummy!! And potato bread - I started making it because I often bake homemade bread. First only the usual flour, yeast and water recipe but then I also tried experimenting and potato bread sounded like a good idea.

Well, this pretty much sums up where I stand with my potato recipes at the moment.

How Do You Know If Two People Are Meant To Be Together?

How the hell would I know... Help?

Grape Juice

This is actually not my writing. I am hiring someone to write articles for me and this one is pretty much copied from all over the place. But I am posting it here to check what copyscape thinks about it. Since as far as I know you can't copyscape check the text if it is not published online if you don't have the "pro" version of copyscape.

Well here it goes, the task was to write about grape juice.

If you’re constantly feeling tired or burnt out, it may be because your immune system is not working properly due to poor diet or excessive stress. You’ve probably heard that wine contains powerful antioxidants that help keep your healthy; well, grape juice contains antioxidants as well but doesn’t make your drowsy like alcohol can. An easy way to get a lot of energy naturally is to start drinking grape juice. Give it a try and see if you don't feel refreshed.

If you drink grape juice regularly, these antioxidants can help boost your immune system, leaving you feeling healthy and energized. Antioxidants have also been shown to fight heart disease, prevent Alzheimer’s, and decrease the signs of aging.
The grape juice helps fatigue by replacing your body's iron supply. Iron deficiency is common, especially in women and can cause severe fatigue and leave you feeling completely tired and burnt out. Don’t drink dark grape juices if you are anemic (low on iron). Dark grape juices contain chemicals that can actually lower the level of iron in your system, worsening the problem. Stick to white or light grape juice for the best iron boost. If you’re feeling extra tired after a workout, you probably need to replenish iron lost from sweating. Drinking grape juice will not only give you more energy, but also help with muscle fatigue as well.
When using grape juice to fight fatigue, you should be careful what brand you choose. Many “juices” are actually grape drinks or cocktails that have extra sugar added to them. Sugar may give you a boost for a while but eventually it will wear off. For the most benefit, find 100% grape juices with all natural ingredients. If you can’t find a brand you like, just get some grapes and make your own.

Don’t just deal with your fatigue, fight it and improve your health at the same time with an energizing glass of grape juice.

From Time To time...

...something happens that you never thought it would. Sometimes it's bad and sometimes it's good. Sometimes it hurts as hell and brings tears of sorrow to your eyes and sometimes it makes you smile.

Yeah...an emotional day... I don't want to go into details. But I will have some homemade mexican today to make me feel better.

Potatoes

After a loooooooong long time I'm back to recipes. This time it's all about potatoes. Potatoes for mashed potatoes, for potato pie etc... Now there are a few thing you should know :)

1. How to select the right kind of potato for your potato pie?
Introduced here are four varieties of potatoes but generally there are about 16 different potatoes that you can find at the market and in the stores. Other potatoes are rarer kinds and difficult to get by. But remember that potatoes fall into three common categories: starchy, waxy, and those in - between which are referred to as all - purposed.

Starchy potatoes are ideal for baking. They are fluffy and absorbent, perfect for butter on a baked potato or the oil in a fryer. They are decent mashed, but care must be taken not to over work them, else you are going to have a gluey mess.

Waxy potatoes have a smoother, more waxy texture so they hold their shape while cooking. They work well in dishes like soups, stews, potato salad and scalloped potatoes where you would need to boil, slice, or roast.

All - purpose potatoes have a less starch than starchy potatoes, but not so much that they completely fall apart when cooked. They are going to work for most potato dishes as potato pie is.

A note on potato safety - don't use potatoes with a green - tint to the skin. These have been exposed to too much light and have developed the toxin 'solanine' which can cause some nasty conditions like cramping, headaches, diarrhea, and fever. Such a potato also will have a bitter flavor.

2. A list of different potatoes

Russet (starchy) This is the potato most people have fixed in their minds as the classic potato. They are ideal baking potatoes and are also good fried and mashed.

Jewel Yam (starchy) Actually a sweet potato, not a true jam, this is the most commonly found market sweet potato. Great baked or roasted.

Japanese Sweet Potato (starchy) This variety has a pink to purple skin with white flesh. Its flavor is sweet and nutty. They can be grilled, steamed or baked.

Hannah Sweet Potato (starchy) Very much like a Jewel potato, but with lighter skin and flesh.

I wanted to write more but if you are looking for recipes just follow the first two links that will teach you how to make kick ass mashed potatoes and a tasty yet simple sweet potato pie. Bon apetit!

Recipes: Pumpkin Bread, Apple Pie, Sugar Cookie and Guacamole

What a crazy mix of dishes to put into the title eh? Who on Earth puts some apple pie on his pumpkin bread and dips a few sugar cookies into the homemade guacamole :)? No one.

These are just some recipes on some cool sites that teach you how to prepare these meals. Before I tell you home to make each of these meals one little story. It's a really cool one :). All these sites have pretty similar look because the all come from one super cool template. At least I think its pretty good for food and stuff like that. Simple, clean so the recipes stand out... Anyway - this template had a link in the footer and if there is a link in the footer it is courteous to ask people that made the template if the link needs to stay there. This is the right thing to do. Actually the best thing would be to leave the link there for the hard work they did but if you do this for real and every link counts... well you might be rather willing to give them some money in return for removing the link. So you should ask if you can remove the link from the footer and I bet if you ask nicely and the fact that you even asked - they will say ok. Most of the people just delete. Plenty of people even pretend the template is their own.

So these cool guy said that sure, template is GPL and you can remove the link. Cool.

Now to the recipes. I like banana bread as I might have mentioned. And one bread that is pretty similar to it is pumpkin bread. It might sound funny to you...especially if you don't come from the states where pumpkins are very popular...pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and stuff like that..but yeah..as said pumpkin bread is very similar to banana bread. So if you want to try it out - here are some pumpkin bread recipes. So...it's goooood :).

Next one is the oldie goldie of my recipes. Apple pie. Yummy. I love apples and anything made out of them. Apple pie was made by my grandma, greatgrandma probably great great grandma, my mum, my girlfriends mum, grandma etc... It's here, it's tasty, I love it and it was about time I learned how to make it myself. So here are apple pie recipes.

Moving on. Mexico man!!! Best surf on the planet. Well.. one of the best ones. Best food. Cool beer and drinks, tequila...cool stuff. And one of the things I didn't even like until recently - guacamole. Until I tried it it just looked like that green weird looking avocado dip that I would never tried. How was I wrong. It's great!!! So now I make this mexican appetizer almost every week and put it on to my bread if nothing else. How to make it - you need a guacamole recipe.

And finally... sugar cookies. I'm not that much of a cookie fan but I wanted something different, I wanted to try and make cookies at home and sugar cookies are one of the most popular ones...right up there with chocolate chip cookies. So if you want to make them at home - here is a sugar cookie recipe.. or a few of them.

That's it. Lessons for today - ask nicely and you will be heard. And make some cool meals at home and surprise your friends, family... they'll love it. All these recipes are really easy to make. I only choose simple recipes because I don't like spending time in the kitchen. I think it's a waste of time...

OK, I wrote quite a lot this time.. maybe next time again something a little bit more technical..

Adding Your RSS Feed To Digg So Post Are Submitted Automatically

Can you do that? Yep. All you have to do to submit your posts automatically to Digg is to add the feed to your Digg account and verify it. You verify it by pasting some code into a new post that you make on your blog/page.

Like this:

actually the code is not visible because it is written as a HTML comment

Later of course you can delete the code or even delete the post not to confuse your readers. But I won't do it since my readership is so scarce and irregular and comes mostly from search engines. No regular readers here. Have I seen any new visitors from Digg since I added this blogs RSS feed to it?

Not really. Maybe it's still to early.
