Action Sports Blog Resurection

That was a long long pause between my last post and this one. Lots of things have happened, like breaking up with my long time girlfriend and dealing with that shit. That was hard. It took my mind of internet things for quite a while. Then came the Google SERP and algorithm updates that kicked some of my sites into their shins and made me rethink things, made me lost my motivation and then get it back again. It's hard to go from alsom 100$ a day back to 20$. But on the other hand it's true a have been very passive and lazy in the last 1-2 years when it comes to my sites. Most of the time was spent checking earnings and stats. Which is fun but doesn't help build or rank sites.

Anyway... the recent changes are leading kind of away from sniper - one mini niche - one keyword sites. Fortunately I have expanded most of my sites to target many keywords. So even mini sites were not do or die dependent on one keyword.

For instance if you get 80% of your traffic from your main keyword and your site drops - you are screwed. If you get 30% from your main keyword and 70% from all other long tail versions of it and related keywords then a drop in the main keyword doesn't hit you that hard.

And what I have found out is that sites with lots of content, lots of different content have a better ratio between main keyword and all the other long tail keywords. More power to bigger number of keywords and less to the main one. This is good.

Also - I decided to return to sites that I enjoy making. And this are action sport sites or better that one surfing snowboarding and other alternative sports blog that was the first site that I ever put up. It has been 3 years since my last post on that blog and the traffic has been CONSTANT the whole time. During all the ups and downs and algo changes that site remained static. The CTR sucks, at least there are some affiliate sales...nothing to be really excited about but it's what a really enjoy to write about and I've been pumping out posts in the last few days. And I've moved this blog from Joomla to WP. Sorry Joomla but you suck. You are just too much of a pain in the ass to maintain. Otherwise a cool, simple and powerful CMS  but I don't want to take a vacation everytime a Joomla upgrade comes out, SEF URL's change and stuff like that.

So now I have only one Joomla site left. I'm really sorry that I didn't put all my sites on wordpress. Some ore running on other simpler scripts but at least they are light, simple and not updated. Unlike Joomla. Sound funny but this is a good thing :).

Anyway... blog has a semi new template that I like - Pagelines, and some new posts about mountainbiking and surfing. And about a stupid thing called wavejet and about Travis Rice new snowboard movie - The Art Of Flight. And I have included some links to in throughout this post so feel free to click them and check it out :).

Claim and That's It That's All

I have strayed away from one of the topisc of this blog lately. Sports! Especially winter sports. Deep snow, deep powder snow, and lots of it. Snowboarding, skiing. Yeah I am doing a lot of that lately. But this will be a review of two movies that I watched recently. A ski movie called Claim and snowboard movie called That's it That's All. I think they can both be found also on blue ray, at least for Claim I am sure. Here is a great way to find blue ray movies. HD makes a lot of difference.

Anyway, back to the movies. THEY BOTH FUCKIN ROCK! I stopped watching snowboard movies a while ago. The all kind of seem the same, you see 10 of them you have seen them all. And I never watched skiing movies. Back in my skiing days skiing was boring. so I started snowboarding and when the new school skiing revolution came I was sliding sideways and I didn't care. So Claim is the first ski movie i have ever seen. LOL.

Anyway, back to the movies.

Claim
They say this is the best movie of the year or all times or something. It's about how action sports are to cool for people to show joy when they stomp a big trick etc.. and how that is wrong. So in Clain eerybody claims everything. Yeah, I am the best skier out there. Everybody else sucks. Hillarious.

And the tricks rock. And the footage is AWESOME! Mountain shots look like the jumped out of the Lord Of The Rings. Soundtrack is also pretty cool with Final countdown at the begining. Gay? Whatever, it works :).

That's It That's All
Even more amazing footage if thats even possible! These two were really high budget films with helicopters, railroad track for the cameras...the whole shit. And it shows. Its not just lets put the camera here and do some jump. It's just beautifulllll!! The nature, the animals, snow, trees, valleys, mountain ridges... the tricks are just a smaller part of the movie...well not really, but at least 1/3 is just the setup for the tricks.

Anyway, if you will only watch to snow movies ever, watch these two! You wont be sorry.

Double Decade

So you are a snowboarder. No, actually it doesn't matter. Any so called alternative sport will do. Even other sports can do just fine. Probably things like chess don't qualify but... OK, stop and tell what's up?

Sports are for kids. Because kids can learn faster and if you want to be any good at any sport you must start early on. So early that you do most of the falling while you are still close to the ground - when you are small. Something about gravity meets concrete. Mix in more elastic bones, faster healing of your bruises and the fact that: "You won't be able to see the scar by the time you get married." This are just some things that disappear when you are older.

If you are good, if you are really good and train hard you will reach your performance peak sometimes in your twenties, by the time you are 27 or 28 you are already experienced veteran or even worse - a legend :). Sometimes (like surfing, basketball, hockey... some sports) you can squeeze in an additional decade of word cup performance... but only if you are once in a 50 years wonder kid.

If you are not a professional athlete and lets face it, most of us are not, then by the time you are 25 people around you start spiting out innocent remarks like... is he still snowboarding.... wouldn't it be time to take life more seriously... isn't surfing for kids... etc.

Now surfing is lucky because it's old enough that you have people of all ages in the lineup. But snowboarding is still quite young by surfing standards and old snowboarders are like snow in the desert. This is why we must give all the respect to Mack Dawg. Double Decade! That mean two times one decade. That means two times ten years. That means 20 years. Yep, it's 20 years since the release of first Mack Dawgs snowboard movie and the movie that celebrates this fact is titles Double Decade. Check the trailer and wait for it until the fall.
